Always Be Safe First - Consult with Your Medical Professional

Consult with your medical professional specializing in Parkinson’s for full functional evaluation, recommendations and approval before exercising.

Remember, Safety first: Exercise during "on" periods, when taking medication.

It's not safe to exercise on your own, have someone with you!

3 Pieces of Advice to Newly Diagnosed Patients:
1. Spend more time being active and less time on the couch!
2. Get involved in your community and be part of the community!
3. Make life better for others!

We Keep Moving at Ohiohealth's Parkinson's Wellness classes!

OhioHealth's Parkinson's Wellness class is sponsored by the Parkinson's Walk for a Cure.

Schedule of classes

After being evaluated by an OhioHealth Physical Therapist, the participant is assigned to a class that best fits his/her needs. To schedule an evaluation, call 740.420.8243.

  1. Basic classes are every Tuesday starting at 12:45 pm;
  2. Intermediate classes are every Monday starting at 3:00 pm, and
  3. Advanced classes are every Tuesday and Thursday starting at 3:00 p.m.

We exercise, we talk, we laugh, and we have fun!  Each class is an evidenced-based fitness program designed to optimize physical function and help delay the progression of symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease. This wellness program is an important part of OhioHealth’s care continuum of neurologists and expert therapists working together to address the impairments associated with Parkinson’s disease.  Come join the fun!

OhioHealth believes that living well with a neurologic condition means fueling  your mind, body and spirit. Our tailored programs and teams of  specially trained instructors will help you reach all of your wellness  goals.

Our neuroscience wellness programs combine weekly exercise and  education classes to keep your mind and body active, and help you live a  full life.

OhioHealth's structured programs offer many physical, cognitive and social benefits, with a dedicated curriculum tailored to your condition and function level. Participants in these programs have reported  improvements not only in their ability to manage symptoms, but also in their sense of motivation, energy and self-esteem.
