A care partner is an essential member of a person's medical and care teams. While most care partners are spouses, children, siblings, and parents, even friends can be part of the care team.
The role of a Parkinson's care partner will evolve over the years; therefore, we want to offer you resources and action plans to help YOU live well while also while providing the best care possible for your loved one.” Thank you to our many PD Care Partners who are so readily available to help others! It comes with joy, tears, hugs, and friendships created. No one walks alone. Your work and selfless commitment is priceless to others!
We share our deep appreciation for the veterans who have served and continue to serve our country.
If you are a veteran with Parkinson’s disease (PD) or the loved one of a veteran with PD, explore helpful resources tailored to the veteran community:
The Parkinson’s Foundation is proud to partner with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to improve the health, well-being and quality of life for veterans with PD.
Together we at the Walk for a Cure say, "Thank you for your service!"

We are "Stronger Together"
On behalf of the Parkinson's Walk for a Cure, we extend our sincerest “THANKS” to our community of walkers, our sponsors, the wonderful members of the Parkinson’s Walk for a Cure advisory board/steering committee, and each of our volunteer team members who so graciously ensure the planning, setup, and cleanup of the park after the event is completed. Your amazing commitment and service to others is unparallelled!
We are also very appreciative of the Great Lakes Chapter - Parkinson Foundation’s staff, for their steadfast support, and our incredibly talented event speaker - Mr. Dan Shotwell, for his commitment and contributions to others through his work as a board member with the Great Lakes Chapter.
We would also like to thank our champion, Peggy Hubbell for her committment in leading the caregiver support program and Pastor Floyd Hubbell for the wonderful opening benediction to the 2025 walk.
We thank Alexis and Steven for their expert oversight in managing PCCF’s local Parkinson’s fund as it provides funding for devices and services (e.g., devices to ensure quality of life and symptom control, in-person exercise classes, caregiver support) to local families seeking to maintain quality of life for their loved ones as the search for a cure continues.
It is each of you as part of our wonderful community that make this event the success it is,
Thank you again!
The 2025 Parkinson’s Walk for a Cure was held at Mary Virginia Crites-Hannan Park on the last Saturday in April. The record-setting proceeds of this year’s walk and donations of approximately $28,900 will be divided equally between supporting the research in search of a cure (i.e., the national Parkinson Foundation) and continuing to assist local families experiencing PD (i.e., through the Parkinson fund managed by the Pickaway County Community foundation - PCCF).
Mapping the Future of Parkinson’s Disease is a global research study that provides genetic testing and genetic counseling at no cost for people diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (PD).
People can participate by enrolling online and completing an at-home blood collection kit or in-person at one of our participating PD GENEration clinical sites. Participants not only contribute to scientific advancement but also receive something back — their test results.
By joining the study, participants can discover new knowledge about their genetic makeup, understand their family’s risks and help benefit generations to come.
If you have questions, please contact the site you enrolled with or call our Helpline at 1-800-4PD-INFO (1-800-473-4636).
For most people, being in the hospital is a stressful experience.
For people with PD, symptoms may get worse, and new symptoms, like confusion or changes in thinking can develop because of stress, infection, fatigue, sleep disturbances, surgery or new medications.
It is our local mission to help people with Parkinson’s disease live better lives, and that includes staying safe while in the hospital. The Parkinson's Walk for a Cure has made the Hospital Safety Guide provided by the Parkinson's Foundation available to everyone no cost to order or download.

You can also order a copy our Hospital Safety Guide to be shipped to you as it is available to everyone in the Parkinson’s community at no cost to order printed copies also.

Each of our families (Roush and Riffle) experienced first-hand the devastation of this progressive neurodegenerative disorder had on each of our loved one and the entire family.
We were seeking something good to come out of this where we could serve others. With each of our fathers, they had PD but PD didn't have them. In memory of our fathers and thoughtful prayer, the tears turned into action through service to others.
The walk date in collaboration with PCCF was chosen because Teresa's father celebrated his birthday April 30th and Steve's father celebrated his May 2nd. This was also our families way of rising up to commemorate our fathers' legacies who were champions in their own way.
Our vision was and continues to be 1) raise community awareness of the real-life challenges of Parkinson’s Disease (PD), 2) assist in funding research for a cure on a national level, 3) provide assistance for those local PD families within our community through our collaboration with the Pickaway County Community Foundation. 4) to let all PD families within our community know they are not alone in the fight against PD!

The Pickaway County Community Foundation Parkinson's Fund distributes funds to the Parkinson’s Foundation to assist in funding research a cure. The local PCCF Parkinson's fund continues to serve as a conduit for several categories of quality of life tools to assist local caregivers and their loved ones living with PD in managing their symptoms, (e.g., walkers, laser guided walkers, wheelchairs, weighted utensils, plates, cups, services for the care partners, stairway chair lift, lift chairs) and sponsors those who wish to participate in the Parkinson's Wellness classes at OhioHealth Wellness center.
The funds directed to Parkinson Foundation assists in providing everything from lifesaving resources to delivering quality care to an estimated one million people (USA) living with Parkinson’s disease, as well as improve Parkinson’s treatments. All the while, supporting innovative research to find a cure.
